David Scott Hibbett -- Short Bio

Dr. David Scott Hibbett, Professor of Biology at Clark University in Worcester, MA, is an expert on fungal diversity, evolution, ecology, and plant cell wall degradation.

His research focus is on Fungal Evolutionary Biology -- earlier this year he co-authored a paper in Nature Reviews Microbiology on Fungal Systematics with UC Berkeley faculty member and EBI principal investigator John Taylor. Dr. Hibbett, who is Warren Litsky Endowed Chair in Biology at Clark, uses molecular phylogenies, which provide a framework for investigations of species-level relationships, biogeography, and evolution of morphological and ecological attributes of fungi. He also engages in comparative genomic studies on function.
