EBI Personnel Directory Susan Thomas
Dr. Thomas is the Deputy Program Manager of the Energy Biosciences Institute. She is the staff manager at the EBI-Illinois site and assists the Deputy Director in overseeing the operations and management of EBI activities on the University of Illinois campus.
After receiving her doctoral degree in molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases from the Harvard School of Public Health, Dr. Thomas served for two years as a project manager for the Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative, a non-profit drug research and development organization. Prior to coming to the University of Illinois, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the New York University School of Medicine, focusing on HIV epidemiology. From 2006 until joining the EBI in 2013, she was a research assistant professor at the Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB) at the University of Illinois. Her research focused on female reproductive health and microbial diversity, an important research topic for the Host-Microbe Systems Theme at the IGB. She also provided research management support to this theme.
